The cracker dog moment is that wild moment of craziness that they seem to get, when control flies off out of the window! I think it originated back in the late 70's with the TV series All Creatures Great And Small from books by James Herriot, a character in the stories had a little dog who had. 'Cracker dog moment'....somehow everyone knew Exactly what they meant and thereby the phrase stuck.
